I like it a lot, but you do need 1 player to be the dungeon master. you might want to look into Descent 2nd edition, as that one doesnt require an app. The games immersive storyline is packed with twists and turns sure to thrill players of all skill levels. Throughout your campaign, you’ll face undead lurking in the mists, demonic barbarians stalking the wilds, and even more terrifying threats. There's a lot of great RPG-like boardgames out how that don't require apps, so don't worry if this one requires it. The Betrayers War, a.k.a., Descent Act II, is a sprawling and deeply co-operative dungeon crawler driven by player choice - all powered by an app that allows for games to run without a Game Master. A Meta-Review of Descent: Legends in the Dark Reviews I literally do not understand what is going with this game in review land. I love that the app takes a big chunk of the mental load off so I can put focus on running the characters (which is quite a clever and tactical system IMO). I've played a bunch of dungeon crawlers, with the most time invested in KDM, Blackstone Fortress, and Middara respectively and they were all fun but extremely fatiguing to play solo, especially as the campaigns entered the mid-point and combinatorial explosion became a thing. I think the balance between what's on the app and what's on the board is good. I LOVE the management the app does on the monsters. The app is solid - minor bugs here or there, but nothing game breaking - really good for a launch product. Players become heroes of the realm who oppose. I like how differently the characters play. Descent: Legends of the Dark is the definitive dungeon-crawling cooperative board game for one to four players. I'm also on the 5th mission (and at least one of your summaries sounds like something I haven't done - interesting) and I agree - it's really fun, you get a lot of good gameplay out of it despite the cost, and it's a table hog (although I'm not sure it's more than KDM or the other big lifestyle dungeon crawlers, and at least it packs into a reasonably small box by the standards of the genre). Keep sneaking off from other responsibilities to play a turn or two. Long version: pretty bad marketing for this game, but after watching some videos and reading positive things on BGG I took a chance, and I love it.
